Fivefold Academy is located in the border city of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico - neighboring El Paso, Texas. In a different country, we are required to cross the divide of culture and language in order to be effective in winning people for Jesus.
To activate, expand, and refine your gifts through biblical teaching, mentoring, practical field work, and send you into your purpose in the Kingdom of God.
BIBLE: The Bible is God's Word to us. It was written down by human authors under the supernatural guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for christian beliefs about daily living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any form of error. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:89, 105, 160; Proverbs 30:5)
GOD: God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three distinct personalities: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and are one God. (Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 3:22; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
HUMAN BEINGS & SIN NATURE: People are made in the image of God, created to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God's entire creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, each of us are marred by sin, which is disobedience toward God and His Word. Sin separates us from God and causes many problems in our lives. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2)
JESUS: Jesus is the perfect and sinless Son of God, and second Person of the Trinity. He was truly man AND truly Divine God, sent to earth to be a sacrifice, dying on a cross for the salvation of all who put their faith in Him. (Hebrews 1:1-4; John 3:16; 2 Corinthians 5:21)
SALVATION: Salvation is God's free gift to us - but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from the penalty of their sins. When we surrender the self-rule of our own life, and turn to Jesus in faith - we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment an individual receives Jesus into their life by faith, as Lord and Savior. (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1)
THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: The Bible lists many gifts of the Holy Spirit. The first century church practiced these gifts regularly, and we should as well. We desire to have these gifts functioning within Fivefold Academy, Emmanuel Community, the local Church, and the Global Church. (1 Corinthians 12-14; Romans 12:6-8)
We believe that the fivefold ministry gifts that Jesus gave to the body of Christ, found in Ephesians 4:11-12 (the APOSTLES, the PROPHETS, the EVANGELISTS, the SHEPHERDS and TEACHERS) are still alive and active today, waiting to be woken up in a sleeping generation of believers. These leadership gifts were given for the purpose of equipping and activating the Church to continue the work of the Great Commission until it is finished (Matthew 24:14).
Students will attend and lead evangelistic outreaches, locally on both sides of the border. On these outreaches, students will engage with members of the community and preach the Gospel with love, excitement, and relevancy.
Students will experience in-person classroom training that focuses on the fivefold ministry gifts, and preapring them for ministry. Each semester includes (but is not limited to): three (3) seminars taught by world-class pastors and ministry leaders that specialize in these gifts, three (3) Bible College Courses, five (5) applicable book studies and discussions.
Students will participate in leading/serving in weekly activities happening at Emmanuel Ministries Community Center, including but not limited to: instructing english classes, athletic activities, computer education, music, dance, the arts, administration, cooking, volunteering in our on-site elementary school, adult education, community Bible studies, and much more.
After official acceptance into Fivefold Academy, a tuition deposit of $1,000 is due in order to hold your space.
Full tuition balance is due no later than two weeks before each semester begins, any and all fees paid are non-refundable.
Tuition fees include: student lodging, ten (10) meals per week plus, purified drinking water, ground transportation, courses and course materials, required books, and household basics (toilet paper, laundry soap, bedding, pillow, towels, etc).
Tuition fees do not include: background screening fee ($60), arrival and departure transportation, passport fees ($65 to $165) Global Entry or Sentri Pass fees ($120), Mexican Visa fees ($58), cell phone, medical or dental care, personal spending money, hygeine supplies or services, any transportation costs outside the program structure
**Before official acceptance into Fivefold Academy, each applicant will be interviewed by the Fivefold Academy Staff, and must submit to a local and federal criminal background check. Fees for background check are in addition to application and tuition fees, and may very per student depending on the state you live in. At the appropriate time in the application process, a link will be provided for you in order to initiate the background check.
Rebecca Busa Portillo, Fivefold Academy Director
At the very location she currently serves - Emmanuel Ministries in Juarez is the place where Rebecca first encountered Jesus and surrendered her life to Him in 1993. She has participated in various forms of ministry over the years: music, working with children, evangelism, and more. 17 years ago, she entered into full-time ministry and has never looked back. Together with her late husband Sean, Rebecca has helped to plant three (3) churches (that are all still thriving today), where she served in various roles as worship leader, administrator, director of operations for a national recovery program, church planting coach, children's education director, associate pastor, and finally stepping into the role of lead pastor after the unexpected death of her late husband in 2022. Sean and Rebecca had been working together diligently for quite some time in order to develop and launch Fivefold Academy in Baja California, Mexico - but God had other plans. In the summer of 2023, Rebecca returned to Emmanuel Ministries to serve as Missionary Pastor, discipling and teaching daily the children at the Home as well as the staff. Her desire is to mentor and nurture the next generation of leaders in the Body of Christ, and to make the Name of Jesus known everywhere she goes. Rebecca is also currently serving in a Pastoral role for Widow Goals - where she speaks at retreats and offers support and encouragement to women who have lost their husbands. Rebecca currently resides in El Paso, Texas, and remarried in the Fall of 2024, to Ivan, who is delighted to relase her to continue pursuing the call of God on her life. Together Ivan and Rebecca have four adult children, and one beautiful grandaughter, Abigail, who is the light of their lives and enjoys visiting her grandparents in El Paso during the summer.
